How to reconnect your Google Ads integration

Remove and reconnect your Google Ads integration from Global Settings

Written by Nicky Knoesen

If your Google Ads integration has stopped working, or you need to connect it with a different Google user, you can remove the existing connection and set it up again yourself from your ResponseiQ Company Dashboard.

This article is for the account owner or an Admin user without restrictions. Other users will not see the option to remove the integration.

Before you start

  • Only remove the integration when you are ready to reconnect straight away. Google Ads attribution for your calls stops from the moment you remove the integration until you have reconnected and reassigned your domains.

  • Removing the integration deletes the saved Google Ads connection and the Google Ads account assignments for every domain in your company account.

  • Your historical call reports are kept. Nothing in your existing call data is deleted.

  • Make sure you can sign in to Google with a user that has access to the Google Ads account you want to connect.

Step 1: Open the Google Ads Integration page

  1. Log in to your Company Dashboard on ResponseiQ as the account owner or an unrestricted Admin.

  2. Go to Global Settings.

  3. Click Google Ads Integration.

Step 2: Note your current domain assignments

Before you remove anything, write down which Google Ads account is assigned to each of your domains. Each domain card shows its assigned account, and connected domains are marked Healthy. You will need this list in Step 5 to reassign them.

Tip: Take a screenshot of the page so you have a record of every assignment.

Step 3: Remove the Google Ads integration

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the Google Ads Integration page, to the Remove integration for all domains section.

  2. Click Remove Google Ads integration.

  3. Confirm the removal.

Note: Use the Remove Google Ads integration button at the bottom of the page, not the Remove button on an individual domain card. The button on a domain card only applies to that one domain.

Step 4: Connect your Google Ads account again

  1. Click Connect. You will be redirected to Google.

  2. Sign in with a Google user that has access to the Google Ads account you want to use.

  3. Click Allow to give ResponseiQ access to your Google Ads data.

  4. Select the Google Ads account you want to connect.

Note: You can select any Google Ads customer account you have the right access level for. Manager (MCC) accounts cannot be selected directly.

Step 5: Reassign the account to your domains

Using the list from Step 2, click Configure on each domain and assign the correct Google Ads account.

Step 6: Test each domain

Click Test next to each configured domain to check the connection is working.

That's it! Your Google Ads integration is reconnected and new calls from your Google Ads traffic will be attributed again.

Troubleshooting

I can't see the Remove Google Ads integration button

Check you are logged in as the account owner or an Admin user without restrictions, and scroll to the very bottom of the Google Ads Integration page.

Which Google user should I connect with?

Use a Google user that has access to the Google Ads account that runs your ads. If you are not sure, ask whoever manages your Google Ads account (for example your agency) to add your Google user to the account first, or to complete the connection with you.

My Google Ads account isn't in the list

The Google user you connected with does not have access to that account. Remove the integration again and reconnect using a Google user that has access to it.

The Test fails on a domain

Check that the correct Google Ads account is assigned to that domain. If the test still fails, contact our support team.

Will I lose my old call data?

No. Your historical call reports are kept. Only Google Ads attribution for calls made while the integration is disconnected will be missing.

For more about what the integration does and the data it adds to your call reports, see Google Ads Integration.
